Google’s Pixel Fold 2 is set to hit the market later this year

Google’s Pixel Fold 2 is set to hit the market later this year. Its announcement could happen at the company’s annual developer conference in May or at the annual Pixel phone launch in October — a rumor last month tipped the scales slightly toward the latter, but that hasn’t been given yet.

When it lands, the Pixel Fold 2 will apparently have a bigger screen than its predecessor. The internal, folding display will be 8.02″ and the external screen will measure 6.29″ diagonally, according to Ross Young of DSCC, an accurate source of past supply-chain information. For reference, the Pixel Fold ships with a 7.6″ folding screen and 5.8″ cover display.

Panel production for the Pixel Fold 2’s screen is set to begin in April, you see — meaning a summer launch for the latest device.

Earlier leaked images of the Pixel Fold 2 show a very different camera island design and a new aspect ratio compared to all other recent Pixels, a change that has long been rumored.

The Fold 2’s cover screen is taller and narrower than the original Fold. This may fix the original issue when opening the app in landscape mode.
